This study presents an analysis of metaphor on three poems, Invictus, The Road Not Taken and Dreams. The objective of this study is: to find out the types and meaning from three poems. The analyses were based on the combination of Lakoff and Johnson’s theory (2003), and Konvecses’s theory (2010) to find out the kind’s of metaphor and meaning of Invictus, The Road Not Taken, and Dream poems. What is the kind’s of metaphor and meaning of line on Invictus, The Road Not Taken, and Dream poems. In this study, the researcher will use descriptive qualitative research. The findings of this study were directed to know what is the kind’s of metaphor and meaning of Invictus, The Road Not Taken, and Dream poems. The result of this research is to show that the kind’s of metaphor and the meaning of poetr

Response and Bioaccumulation Potential of Boerhavia diffusa L. Towards Different Heavy Metals

    Get PDF
Effect of different concentrations of heavy metals such as Cadmium, Chromium, Mercury and Leadwas studied by cultivating rooted propagules of Boerhavia diffusafor a period of twenty days in Hoagland nutrient medium artificially contaminated with known concentration of those heavy metal ions. Concentrations of the metals selected to impart visible symptoms of growth retardation and to permit survival for prolonged period are 30µM cadmium chloride (CdCl2), 400 µM potassium dichromate (K2Cr2O7), 10 µM mercuric chloride (HgCl2), and 600 µM lead acetate (CH3-COO)2Pb. More or less uniform growth performance was shown by the plants irrespective of the differences of concentration of the heavy metals. However, parameters such as root - and stem length, stomatal - and tolerance index varied among the treatments. Significant differences were observed in the heavy metal accumulation potential among metals and between plant parts such as root, stem and leaf and the pattern was dependent on growth period

ROLE OF EPIGENETIC MECHANISMS IN VARIOUS CANCER THERAPIES

    Get PDF
Epigenetics play a role not just in the normal functioning of the cell and its development, but also in diseases like neurological diseases and cancer. Epigenetic therapies can help to resolve non-identical problems of these pathophysiological conditions. Cancer is a complex disease with both genetic and epigenetic origins. The importance of epigenetics in cancer has been identified, and the field has emerged rapidly in recent years. Epigenetic and genetic alterations contribute to the initiation and progression of cancer. Epigenetic modifications introduced genetic changes, and usually occur at an early stage in development of a neoplasm, but may also be involved in its invasion and spread. Recent technological advances in genetics and epigenetics offer a better understanding of the underlying epigenetic alterations during initiation and in the progression process of the human tumors

Distribution of Bio-accumulated Cd and Cr in two Vigna species and the Associated Histological Variations

    Get PDF
In nutrient culture experiments, bioaccumulation and anatomical effects of cadmium (CdCl2 - 20μM) and chromium (K2Cr2O7 - 600 μM) on the structure of root and stem was studied by histochemical and analytical methods in Vigna radiata and Vigna unguiculata. Each metal exerted specific influences on the anatomy of various tissues in root and stem. Histochemical localisation of cadmium and chromium was observed in the stained sections of root and stem. Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometric study revealed maximum accumulation of cadmium and chromium in the root tissue as compared to shoot with significant variation among the species. Abundant occurrences of densely stained deposits of chromium were seen in the root stelar region of V. unguiculata and to a lesser extend in V. radiata. Cadmium accumulation in V. radiata was comparatively more than that of V. unguiculata. The findings also revealed that the accumulation pattern of cadmium and chromium varies between species and hence is species specific

Fabrication of Low-Roughness Au/Ti/ SiO2/Si Substrates for Nanopatterning of 16-Mercapto Hexadecanoic Acid (MHA) by Dip-Pen-Nanolithography

    Get PDF
Silicon based low-roughness Au/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates were fabricated using standard IC fabrication processes. Evolution of surface roughness during substrate fabrication process was studied. Fabrication process steps, namely, thermal oxidation and e-beam evaporation for ultra-thin Ti(~ 5 nm)/Au(22 nm) films, were optimized to result in surface r.m.s roughness ~ 0.2 m and ~ 1.0 nm, after thermal oxidation and Ti/Au deposition steps respectively. Surface roughness was estimated by atomic force microscope (AFM) imaging and image analysis. Nano-patterning experiments using thiol based 16-MHA molecular-ink on fabricated substrates were carried out, under controlled environment conditions, by dip-pen-nanolithography (DPN) technique. Minimum line-width ~ 60 nm and circular dots radius ~ 175 nm were patterned. When you are citing the document, use the following link http://essuir.sumdu.edu.ua/handle/123456789/2779

A lower bound on web services composition

A web service is modeled here as a finite state machine. A composition problem for web services is to decide if a given web service can be constructed from a given set of web services; where the construction is understood as a simulation of the specification by a fully asynchronous product of the given services. We show an EXPTIME-lower bound for this problem, thus matching the known upper bound. Our result also applies to richer models of web services, such as the Roman model

Neutral and cationic half-sandwich arene ruthenium, Cp*Rh and Cp*Ir oximato and oxime complexes: Synthesis, structural, DFT and biological studies

    Get PDF
The reaction of [(p-cymene)RuCl2]2 and [Cp*MCl2]2 (M = Rh/Ir) with chelating ligand 2-pyridylcyanoxime {pyC(CN)NOH} leads to the formation of neutral oximato complexes having the general formula [(arene)M{pyC(CN)NO}Cl] {arene = p-cymene, M = Ru, (1); Cp*, M = Rh (2);Cp*, M = Ir (3)}. Whereas the reaction of 2-pyridyl phenyloxime {pyC(Ph)NOH} and 2-thiazolyl methyloxime {tzC(Me)NOH} with precursor compounds afforded the cationic oxide complexes bearing formula [(arene)M{pyC(ph)NOH}Cl]+ and [(arene)M{tzC(Me)NOH}Cl]+{arene = p-cymene M = Ru, (4), (7); Cp*, M = Rh (5), (8); Cp*, M = Ir (6), (9)}. The cationic complexes were isolated as their hexafluorophosphate salts. All these complexes were fully characterized by analytical, spectroscopic and X-ray diffraction studies. The molecular structures of the complexes revealed typical piano stool geometry around the metal center within which the ligand acts as a NNʹ donor chelating ligand. The Chemo-sensitivity activities of the complexes evaluated against HT-29 (human colorectal cancer), and MIAPaCa-2 (human pancreatic cancer) cell line showed that the iridium-based complexes are much more potent than the ruthenium and rhodium analogues. Theoretical studies were carried out to have a deeper understanding about the charge distribution pattern and the various electronic transitions occurring in the complexes
